Nutrient self sufficiency and security of supply can both be promoted by recycling domestic biomasses effectively, turning them into recycled fertilizer products and using them in farming.

Currently, about 80 percent of recycled nutrient-rich biomass ends up in agriculture. Most of this is manure, of which only seven percent is processed. Through processing, nutrients are condensed into a form where they can be more efficiently transported to areas where fertilization is needed. The degree of processing of biomass should be increased in order to enhance the recycling of nutrients and organic matter.
