Municipalities can promote the production and use of biogas in many ways. CircBrief: Sustainable energy production from biogas publication tells about the promotion of biogas production in municipalities and regions. The publication presents the regional biogas ecosystem of City of Jyväskylä, which is one of Finland's most significant players in the field.
"Processing unused biomass in biogas plants is an excellent way to produce local energy and nutrients. Municipal activities play an important role in the current world situation, especially when considering national self-sufficiency," reminds Senior Research Scientist Sari Piippo from the Finnish Environment Institute.
